The Best of The Rest: 5 Great Non BCS Bowls

Alabama vs Texas, TCU vs Boise State, Florida vs Cincy, Iowa vs GA Tech, and Ohio State vs Oregon all sound like great games to watch as well as the should be because they are BCS Bowl matchups. A lot of people tend to forget that there are some great matchups that exist outside of the BCS. Here are the Top Five "Best of the Rest" bowl games.

Capital One Bowl: Penn State vs LSU
Old School Joe Pa vs Les "Clock Mismanagement" Miles. PSU plays great defense, LSU usually does as well. A straight up culture clash here, and one that shouldn't be missed on New Year's Day.

Las Vegas Bowl: Oregon State vs BYU
The Rodgers brothers are freakish athletes. BYU is a team that likes to reach up and smack at the Pac 10. Be sure to watch this game on December 22. It will feature two high power offenses, so expect a lot of points.

Brut Sun Bowl: Oklahoma vs Stanford
This game is interesting for a number of reasons. Namely Heisman finalist Toby Gerhart matching up against the impressive defense of the Sooners. Oklahoma had an injury ruined season but could set themselves up to make a run in 2010 if they build momentum here. This game is on Christmas Eve.

Gator Bowl: WVU vs FSU
This should be renamed the "Bowden Force Out Bowl" Honestly the product on the field is only a after thought. You should watch this game to pay respect to Bobby Bowden and all he did for college football. This is a new years day game.

Chik-fil-A Bowl: Va. Tech vs Tennessee
The ACC gets no love outside of the East Coast, they are perceived as minor conference. Well ACC fans better hope that Va. Tech can outlast this middle of the road SEC team. Kiffin at Tennessee continues to come under fire for NCAA sanctions and recent team stability issues (arrests). This game is on New Year's Eve.
