Best Characters In Game of Thrones That Don't Make It…That Don’t Make It.

If you are a fan of this HBO series, then you know that they have the best characters on Game of Thrones. They are the people you can really stand behind and picture yourself as being. Unfortunately, if you are also a fan of Game of Thrones, you know most of those people are already dead. So who are, I’m sorry, WERE your favorite characters from the last two seasons? As the third season begins, here is a tip of the helmet to those we lost in seasons one and two. Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t watched the first two seasons, this is obviously going to ruin the fun for you. So don’t read it!

Best Characters On Game of Thrones: Ned Stark

NED STARK

In the first season, we figure this guy is the go-to hero for the entire series. He’s strong, brave, honest, chivalrous, extremely loyal, and he’s the main star! Unfortunately, the only thing Sean Bean doesn’t have IS A HEAD after eight episodes! I have friends of mine who stopped reading the books after this happened because they considered him the best character in Game of Thrones. For those of us who read the series, just wait for the fun to continue…

Best Characters On Game of Thrones: Khal Drogo

KHAL DROGO

Jason Mamoa is a huge guy. In the series, he is paired up with one of my favorite female stars, Emelia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Stormborn, the last of the Targaryens. If you don’t recognize Mamoa, he played Conan the Barbarian in the 2011 remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger classic. In Game of Thrones, Khal Drogo is the leader of a 40,000 man nomadic cavalry that has promised to go over the sea and help Daenerys take back her kingdom and replace her brother as the true leader of the Seven Kingdoms. Sadly, this guy gets his nipple cut off in a fight and it gets infected so badly that he becomes catatonic and his poor wife ends up suffocating him with a satin pillow. Sad is the life for this Horse Lord.

Best Characters On Game of Thrones: Syrio Forel

SYRIO FOREL

This guy is a Dungeons and Dragons character come to life. He’s the “dancing instructor” that Ned Stark hires to teach his tomboyish daughter, Arya (played by Maisie Williams), on how to use a sword. He’s a fricking awesome fencer. Plus that, he’s got a cool accent and even better quotes (“What do we tell Death, boy? Not today.”). While Syrio (as portrayed by Miltos Yerolemou – I’ve never heard of him, either), only shows up for a few episodes, he makes a lasting impression on Arya her entire life. As typical, because everyone likes the character, George R.R. Martin kills him off. Syrio (“supposedly”) dies beating the hell out of 5 or 6 knights using only a wooden stick! He should have brought a sword…

Best Characters On Game of Thrones: King Robert Baratheon

ROBERT BARATHEON

For fans of the television show, Still Standing, you will recognize Mark Addy (who also played a squire in the movie, A Knight’s Tale). He plays King Robert Baratheon on the series, usurper and leader of the Seven Kingdoms and best friends with Ned Stark. He’s everything Ned is not. Slovenly, crude, crass, and out of his prime. When he was younger, though, Robert was the epitome of a hero. Being the king has changed him. He’s still a fun character. Terrible king, but someone you’d love to party with. So, what happens? He gets gored by a wild boar and starts the series of events that lead to the action in the series!

Best Characters On Game of Thrones: Renly Baratheon

RENLY BARATHEON

Renly Baratheon (played by Gethin Anthony) is the gay, younger brother of Robert. Renly is married to the beautiful Marjorie Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), but is in love with her brother, Loras, the Knight of Flowers (Finn Jones). I know, it is hard to follow sometimes… Renly tries to take over the Seven Kingdoms after his brother Robert dies, but is hounded at every turn by his brother Stannis, the current King Joeffrey, Robb Stark, and Balon Greyjoy. His brother is his biggest enemy, however, and has him killed through sorcery. It’s a sad ending for the potential king, but there were too many of them anyway…
