WoodstockWoodstock was the iconic music festival that occurred in August, 1969 on Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York.  We are all familiar with the bands that performed there: Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young; Jefferson Airplane; Janis Joplin; Santana; and the Jimi Hendrix Experience – but what about the performers that we have forgotten?  There were 32 performances at Woodstock over three days.  Only 31 groups performed (Country Joe and the Fish performed twice), but you only see 21 of the bands in the Academy-winning film.  Who were the bands that didn’t make the cut?  Here are five of them: Read more…

Five Best Rock Concerts I Would Have Liked To Have Seen

guitarI am an avid fan of going to concerts.  The bands can be local, rock, country, folk, oldies, or classical, but I love the sensation of being in the crowd with the wall of sound between me and the stage.  There are certain rock shows that go down in history as some of the greatest of a generation and I wish I would have been a witness to them.  Here is a list to the concerts I wish I would have seen:

peace-fingers-dyeWoodstock was the most famous music festival of the 20th century and it took place forty years ago on August 15-18, 1969.  Time magazine proclaimed the festival “the greatest peaceful event in history” but was it? Five Unlikely Heroes of Woodstock

hippysamWoodstock was a music and art festival held forty years ago on a 600 acre farm in Bethel, New York.  Over 300,000 people were in attendance for the three day event which has been called one of the critical points of the twentieth century.  While the music, the artists and the concert organizers have always been spotlighted, there were heroes that made the event a pivotal experience for the concert-goers.  Here are five of those people that were not musicians or festival organizers that helped to make the concert a success.
