Remembering The Edmund Fitzgerald – 35 Years Later
It was thirty-five years ago, today, on November 10, 1975, that the SS Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior in a storm, never to be seen again. At the time of her disappearance, no one knew what happened to her. She was headed for Detroit, Michigan when she went down at sea with all 29 crew members. The ship would become famous because of a song called, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (1976), by Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot, which gave credence to the mystery.
