Many of us are familiar with the legend of Davy Crockett. Disney did a great job in the 1950s and 1960s of making him a household name. However, the truth is often a far cry from the story that is told. To quote one of my favorite movies, the John Wayne/James Stewart classic, Who Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962): 'When the legend becomes fact, print the legend'.
