Five Questions About Season 2 True Blood
True Blood debuted last year and became HBO’s newest hit. Based on the novels by Charlaine Harris, the series began with the conflict of a telepathic girl trying to date a vampire in a world where synthetic blood permits “safe” interactions between vampires and humans. The series plays out like a violent soap opera with better acting and spurns more questions each week as we delve into the supernatural Louisiana bayou. OK, three episodes into Season Two of True Blood and I have at least five questions. I love this show, I really do, but it is aggravating at the same time. Feel free to comment on this, because I’d love to hear what other people think is going on. Warning: If you haven’t watched all three episodes this season, there are some spoilers here.

Best True Blood Season 2 Questions
True Blood, season 2, premieres Sunday, June 14 on HBO. The series follows the adventures of Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin) and her mid-19th century vampire lover, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). In an alternate Louisiana, vampires do exist and they are living amongst us. How do they survive? Well, some drink the blood of humans while others, wanting to be a part of our society, partake in a synthetic version known as True Blood (drunk warm – O Positive or O Negative?).
Follow Sookie, her family and friends through this series based upon the best selling books by Charlaine Harris, as they encounter Vampires, Werewolves, and other creatures of the night in True Blood on HBO. Created by Alan Ball (of Six Feet Under fame). WARNING: The Five Questions Below May Contain Spoilers.
Is Lafayette Dead or Alive?
On the last episode of the season, we saw Lafayette Reynolds (played by Nelsan Ellis.), V-dealing/road maintenance/short-order cook/home porn director, attacked while he was taking out the garbage from Merlotte’s. Then, later in that episode, a manicured foot fell out of Andy Bellefleur’s car. Was it Lafayette’s? All answers lead to yes. Spoiler: Lafayette doesn’t live past the first few pages of the 2nd of Harris’ books. That doesn’t mean that Alan Ball has to follow the books and there is rumor that he is around this season – but what are the circumstances surrounding Lafayette? Who could have killed him? In the final episodes of last season, he had threatened a Congressman for his anti-gay rhetoric. Was it him?

How Will Bill Control Jessica Hamby?
Jessica (played by Deborah Ann Woll) is a young vampire that was ordered to be sired by Bill for choosing Sookie over another vampire. When she arose, her first instinct was to kill –something Bill doesn’t allow. She’s whiny, she’s annoying and she’s a total pain in the..ahem…neck. Can Bill control her and what if he cannot? Eric Northman, the Sheriff of the local vampires, made it quite clear that Bill had to keep her in line – or else!
Who is Maryann and why does she know Sam’s secrets?
Maryann (Michelle Forbes) is a mysterious social worker who showed up to help Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley) last season. According to the books, Maryann is a maenad, a creature from Greek mythology that means “raving ones”. These creatures followed the god Dionysus and would go into berserk rages chasing down animals and humans alike to feast upon their flesh. She knows Sam Merlotte (and that he’s a changeling) and he doesn’t like her. It appears that she’s been following him around for sometime and has taken an interest in Tara because of her relationship with Sam. Only time will tell for these three.
Is Jason going over to the super-religious anti-vampire group?
Jason Stackhouse (played by Ryan Kwanten) is a dim-witted, sex starved fool and brother of Sookie. Last year, he thought for sure that he was a serial killer that had taken out several women he had slept with and his own grandmother. Luckily, he was just stupid and being used. However, while they had him in prison, Jason was approached by Orry Dawson, a minister with the Church of the Sun – a “vampire hating church” – and decides to become a “brave soldier” in the church. At the end of the last episode, we see Jason sitting in a service. Will he be a vampire hater even more than he was last season?
What does Terry “know”?
Terry Bellafleur (Todd Lowe) is the post-traumatic stress syndrome war vet/son of Andy Bellafleur. Terry saw Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) running naked across the field one early morning and stated “who hasn’t done that?” and he always appears like he is more in the know than what people give him credit for. Terry was last seen hitting on Arlene Fowler (Carrie Preston) last year who has terrible luck with men (her last fiancée was the serial killer terrorizing the town). Terry explained to Arlene that people should listen to him because he knows things? What things, Terry? What are you hiding?
It's only a few nights away. We'll soon find out!
