Five Things The Black Death Gave Us

bubonic plagueThe Black Death – or Bubonic Plague – ravaged across Europe during the fourteenth century.  It originated in China and made its way East, killing about 350 million people in its wake.  Imagine that number – that’s almost the entire population of today’s United States.  Every man, woman, and child.  The number was staggering.  It would take Europe 150 years to recover from this pestilence, and when it did, things changed.  We actually gained a lot from this disease.  Things you wouldn’t expect.  Here are five of them.
