5 Superheroes Too Stupid To Be Avengers
The Avengers hit the silver screen this year with fantastic success. Billed as "The Earth's Mightiest Heroes"; Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye join forces to save the world from Loki and an evil alien menace. While four of these superheroes have had their own movies and are easily recognizable to even non-comic book fans, there were many other superheroes too stupid to be Avengers and that did not fare so well in making the Avenger's tryout. This is actually amazing, because the Avengers will take almost anyone as a team member. Since 1963, there have been 188 different characters in the comic series. How could you NOT be in the Avengers if you have a super power? Well, these are the heroes that are so absurd that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) didn't have on speed dial to save the earth in times of trouble. After seeing them, you'll know why...

The movies we are seeing today are a sort of background on each one of them. Here is a refresher course for those of you who don't read comics or haven't done so in a long time. I'll refrain from all of the geeky details and just stick with the facts. Read more...

Five Best Songs I Can’t Get Out Of My Head!
Last night, a group of us were talking about songs we can't get out of our heads once we've heard them. The topic came up based on the song, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, by Gordon Lightfoot (1976), which I included in yesterday's post. This song goes without saying as being part of this list (although, I didn't add it in with the 5 other "earworms" - as they are sometimes called. This list contains an entirely new list of those songs that you'll be humming all day! This just begs to ask, what songs really get to you? These are 5 that repeat themselves to me, but surely you have songs of your own. Please add the songs that get caught up in your head! Why should you be subjected to these songs alone? Read more...

2009 Origins: Comic Book Movies
I spent the last week at the 2009 Origins Game Fair (June 24-28, 2009) in Columbus, Ohio, where I got the opportunity to interview game designers, organizers, and fans about the games and movies they love to play and watch. One of the topics we polled at Origins was the top Comic Book Movies of All Time. Origins goers had their favorites on this, picking over 38 comic book movies overall. See which of your fan favorites made the list.
