Five Things I Learned From The Karate Kid
The Karate Kid was a huge hit in 1984. It starred Ralph Macchio (as Daniel LaRusso) and Pat Morita (as Mr. Miyagi) - two people looked down on in life as they rose to greatness to be - well, LaRusso goes from being a schmuck to being the All Valley Karate Champ. It wasn't that big of a rise. However, Macchio became a big star and made the covers of Teen Beat and Seventeen (even though he was something like 47 years old at the time - YUCK!) and then had his career plummet two sequels later when he passed up Pat Morita in age.
