5 Approval Ratings Better Than Congress

[ReviewAZON name=”Government Goofs” id=”9″ display=”inlinepost” asin=”0440507863″ trackingid=”mywebsource1-20″ country=”us” width=”200px” float=”left” imagetop=”10px”]The other day, Senator Michael Bennet spoke to Congress about its low approval rating of 9%.  It is possibly the lowest approval rating that any legislative group has received by the American public in the history of the United States.  To illustrate his point, he brought out a chart with the approval ratings of other items that have a higher approval rating than Congress.  Some of these include: The President (40%); BP during the height of the oil spill (16%); Paris Hilton (13%); and America “going Communist” (11%).  You would think that America would have a higher regard for our leaders, but we don’t.  Here are five shocking tApproval Ratings Better Than Congress. Why Do Republicans Hate Women?

A friend’s 15 year old daughter asked this question the other night at a dinner party.  It might seem odd to many of you, but her concerns were valid.  Note, I don’t think Republicans (for the most part) actually hate women.  I think they are trying to balance our national deficit and they are trying to cut anything that they can find.  Still, when you look at what they are cutting, which feeds their own agenda, it makes you understand why this teenage girl would have these questions.  Here are five topics that came up over the evening and some of the real proposals being made within our government right now. Famous People Who’ve Testified Before Congress

Stephen Colbert on CongressA lot of news coverage was given today when comedian Stephen Colbert testified before Congress on the topic of immigration. While reading through various local news blogs, people seemed outraged that Congress would even listen to a comedian. While he did the entire testimony as a joke (I listened to his speech), his words hit home in a plea for Congress to work together (on anything) instead of siding with its own political agenda. A celebrity speaking before Congress isn’t really new, however. Here are five unlikely celebrities who have addressed our government.
