Five Benefits Behind A Vegan Diet

Going VeganI never thought I would go vegan.  Like most Americans I am addicted to meat and oil.  However, last October, I had a heart attack and knew I had to drastically change my diet. In January, I became a vegetarian.  I was still eating fish, eggs, and oil, but I cut out chicken, beef, pork, turkey, and any other types of meat that you can think of.  Still, I did not feel as well as I thought I should and the weight wasn't coming off of me as much as I wanted.  Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I read a book by Dr. Caldwell B Esselstyn from the Cleveland Clinic who wrote a book called, Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.  I was hooked.  I have given up all forms of animal based products and all forms of oil and I feel great!  No more chest discomfort, more energy, and most importantly, I've lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks.  I've done a little research into the benefits of doing such a drastic diet and here are five things I found.
