Summer is traditionally coming to a close next weekend with the advent of Labor Day. Even if your kids are already back in class, they get this one last celebration of a long weekend to look forward to as they say goodbye to being lazy and swimming in the afternoon and prepare for the shorter and colder nights of winter. The History Of Schools In The United States
With the kids going back to school again, I thought I'd write about the history of public schools in the United States. We all went to school, but was there any rhyme or reason to why they are set up the way they are? Why do we go from grades first through twelve? How did the schools come about to be in the first place? Have you ever even considered the reasons or did you blindly take your children to kindergarten when they were five just because it was the thing to do? Five Best Places For Back To School Supplies
Well...once again, it's time for the kids to go back to school. I'm at home with my kids during the day, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to a little break and some Alan time, but I'm also a little sad to see them go back. There is a major drawback to the back to school season, the expense of all the back to school supplies. Back when I was in school, we had to have a Trapper-keeper, pencils, crayons and some glue. Lately, the supplies list has been growing year after year. I have 3 kids and last year my wife spent roughly $60 per kid just on supplies, plus a new backpack for each one. Then, you can factor in new school clothes. I don't even want to know how much was spent last year.
This year we did our research first. We looked online at all the sales and promos and we went through all the newspaper ads and store circulars. Here's a list of the 5 best places I've found to get great deals on back to school supplies and clothing:
Categories: Education, Home and Living, Shopping Tags: amazon.com, back to school, backpacks, Books, crayons, Ebay, Ebay account, Ebay.com, electronics, Kohl's, pencils, school clothes, school clothing, school supplies, Target, Trapper-keeper, Walmart, walmart.com

We are now in the last full month of summer. It is hard to imagine, but the summer took so long to get here and now it is winding down. We look forward to the “dog days of August” which will be followed by the kids going back to school, the nights getting noticeably shorter, and evenings getting cooler. So, I ask you, how are you going to spend the last days of summer?
