My Favorite Rumsfeld Quotes

Rumsfeld QuotesThe news is a-twitter today with the stupid comment put forth by ex-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. In his most PC way of doing things, “Rummy” likened a highly racist and stupid statement about President Obama and his administration to Apes and said, “Even a trained ape could do a better job…” Is he really that stupid? Does he not understand that comments like these hurt the Republican party as a whole? With every jape and poke at the President’s ethnicity, the GOP digs a little deeper. I want to give the architect of the Iraq war a little more credit than making a foolish comment. Unfortunately, if the past is any representation of Donald Rumsfeld’s stupidity, then I believe he’ll be eating a lot of shoe leather in life…Here are five Rumsfeld quotes that illustrate what kind of man he can be…

Five Odd Things To Give Up For Lent

Give Up For LentLent is a religious holiday celebrated in the Catholic Church for forty days prior to Easter. The observance begins on Ash Wednesday and goes until Easter Sunday. Traditionally, it is a period of time when worshippers deny themselves something to commemorate the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ. Many people will give up meat or smoking or coffee during the forty days, but I try to go for something that is a bit long-lasting, while being somewhat (at least in my mind) humorous. For all of my Catholic friends out there that are stuck on what to give up for Lent this year, why not try some of these “sacrifices”. While they may be funny and a little absurd, each of them has a special meaning and is not intended to poke fun at religion.
