Natural Weight Loss Methods
I've had a problem with my weight my entire life. I've tried just about every diet I could find to lose weight. Some work, but as soon as you go off the diet, the weight comes back. As I am naturally lazy, I have done my best to find methods that will work with as little effort as possible. There are many programs out there, but I have found the best success with the following natural weight loss methods.
This diet was created by Cleveland Clinic physician, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. It can be found in his book, How To Prevent And Reverse Heart Disease (see above). Of all of the diets I have tried, this one has worked the best. In one month, I lost 55 pounds with this diet. I have maintained this diet and actually feel incredible since I started it. Be warned, though. This diet is very strict. You cut out all meat, dairy, and oils. You eat all of the fresh vegetables and fruit that you want. But, the results are fantastic! The people who stick to this diet see a significant reduction in cholesterol, high blood pressure, and sugar levels. What's more, it has been proven to reverse heart disease! If the diet is too strict for you, Caldwell's son, Rip, has a similar plan that is less restrictive. It is called The Engine 2 Diet.
While many natural diet methods are not medically tested, Apple Cider Vinegar has had dozens of studies done in regards to health and weight loss. According to WebMD, Apple Cider Vinegar can help you lose weight if you consume 2 tablespoons with 8 oz. of water up to three times per day. The vinegar is good at killing bacteria and makes you feel full. A 2007 medical study showed that it also helps lower blood sugars in Type 2 diabetics. People with diabetes who consumed the mixture before bed lowered their glucose levels by 4%-6%. Research is still being done on this cure and it can react with your other medications. You should consult your doctor before starting any diet plan.
This is considered a "new cure-all". Extra virgin coconut oil, which sells for about $10-$12 a bottle can be picked up in most health stores or specialty grocers. Coconut oil is supposed to be effective in lowering weight - and proponents of this weight loss method swear by it. To get the effects of coconut oil, take about one tablespoon of it a day. Something to note, coconut oil is about 92% saturated fat. While it has no cholesterol, it does contain 117 calories per tablespoon. Doctors claim that this oil is better for you than animal oil, but may not be as healthy as extra virgin olive oil. People who drink this oil, still state it is good for weight loss.
I've used cayenne pepper before in tablet form and in foods. It is excellent for the heart, especially following a heart attack. As a dietary supplement, cayenne pepper has some weight loss capabilities. The active ingredient is something called "Capsaicin". This is found in all peppers. By eating hot peppers, especially cayenne, the capsaicin helps to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, kills bacteria in the stomach, and may help shield against heart disease. The real benefit it offers in weight loss is that it also helps to increase your metabolism, which in turn, makes your body more effective in burning calories.
You know, the yellow flowers that grow all over your yard that you try to destroy with harmful weed killers? People used to eat the leaves of this plant in a salad. I remember my grandfather going out to pick this plant and having it for dinner. As it turns out, dandelions are an excellent, natural diuretic and used to be given to patients who had severe edema (swelling). You can eat this free source of food with your meal to achieve weight loss effects. Since it isn't sold in the store, you can also get some exercise by going out and gathering your dinner salad. Pick the dandelions (flower, stem, and leaves), remove the leaves and wash thoroughly, then mix them in with your salad. Overconsumption of dandelion can cause heartburn or allergic reactions. It will work well with the above weight loss methods, as well. Make a salad of dandelion greens, cayenne pepper, apple vinegar and coconut oil. It's also on Dr. Esselstyn's diet (minus the coconut oil)...
