Web 2.0 is changing the face of the internet. More people and companies are transitioning from typical websites over to blogs. Companies of all sizes are turning to blogs as either their sole internet presence, or as a way to drive traffic to their existing website. Blogs are less expensive, easier to develop and the search engines love them. You’ll noticed more & more, when you do a search for information, blogs are really starting to outperform typical websites.
The reason for this? Search engines favor blogs because they’re filled with dynamic content. The information is always changing or being updated, which is different than traditional websites where the information seldom changes or updates.
Here’s a list of what I feel are 5 of the best blogs out there, or at least my 5 favorite. I’ll leave MyFiveBest off the list in an effort to not look too biased…lol. So please share your thoughts, opinions or other blogs you would like us to take a look at.

Huffington Post – #1 Authority Blog on Technorati as well. The Huffington Post is basically the largest internet newspaper, which is written in blog format. You’ll find breaking news, opinion and much, much more. I’m on their site numerous times throughout the day getting updates on all the latest stories.

PPC Hero – This is a personal favorite of mine because I’m a Pay Per Click & Internet Marketing consultant. PPC Hero is a niche field so obviously it will not appeal to most people. There are several Pay per Click blogs out there, but I feel PPC Hero provides the most quality information.

Popurls.com – This is a really unique site that generates over 1 million page views per month. The site showcases all the latest and most popular posts from numerous different Social Media websites like Digg, Youtube, Wired, Flickr and several others. The site displays everything in a condensed Dashboard format for easy viewing. By using Popurls, you no longer have to go to all the individual sites to find the latest internet buzz.

TechCrunch – Technorati lists Techcrunch as #2 by authority and #3 by number of fans. This widely popular site is the go to site for anything tecnology, with a heavy focus on the web 2.0 sector. They write about all the latest technological advances and breakthroughs, and chances are, you’ll hear about it there first.

Fark - They display daily news in a very unique way. All the news headlines are labeled as “strange,” “interesting,” “scary,” “dumb,” “obvious” and “amusing.” Ranked 25th by Technorati for in-bound links, they generate over 40 million page views per month.
I really have to give an honorable mention to a couple different blogs that are managed by Tracey Gaughran-Perez. The sites are MamaPop and sweetney.com. MamaPop is a gossip & entertainment blog that she co-manages and Sweetney is her personal blog where she writes about…well…Tracey. To be perfectly honest, I’m really not that interested in a lot of the topics she writes about as her demographic is about 98% female. But yet, I think she may be the most creative and entertaining writer / blogger on the internet. Even though I’m not that interested in gossip, celebrities and most of her other topics, I can’t seem to stop reading her blogs. If I were a woman, her sites would be #1 & #2. Props to you Tracey, keep up the great work. If you get a chance, write about some guy stuff.
