My 5 Best Reality TV Shows

Over the past few years, we have witnessed an explosion of reality TV shows. I believe this trend will carry on due to the overwhelming success of these shows, and the fact that Reality type tv show cost a fraction to produce than a typical 1 hour drama. Therefore, putting more money into the pockets of fat, greedy network execs.
While there are a handful of well written and interesting Reality shows, I believe most are absolute garbage…(IMHO of course). Here’s a list of what I think are the 5 best Reality shows:

1. American Idol – The judges can be annoying and Seacrest is a douche. Otherwise I love the fact that the show is raw competition and it’s driven by the viewers. There are claims of fraud, but I call BS on those claims. Although the viewership was down in the 09 season, the ratings are still astronomical. Evidently, most of America agrees because it held the #1 spot from 2004 – 2007 and it looks like it’s gonna be around for quite awhile.

2. Survivor – I’m facinated by this show because the contestants (average Americans) are dropped in the middle of some of the most remote and unforgiving locations on the planet.

3. Extreme Make-Over: Home Edition - I believe this is actually the best Reality show on tv, simply because the show is focused on helping people less fortunate or people in need.

4. Cops - Raw and gritty, I’ve been addicted to this show since it started.

5. The Biggest Loser - In an age where America is growing larger and larger, we can’t wait to see people succeed in losing weight.
