Five Ways to Stop Procrastinating

Why do we procrastinate? If there is something that needs to be done, why don’t we just do it? Procrastination is done for different reasons depending on the person you are. Some people procrastinate because their priorities are mixed up, others may procrastinate because they just don’t want to do what needs to be done. Here are five tips to help you stop procrastinating.

  Do The Hard Stuff First
If you are working on something that has multiple parts to it, then you should do what is hardest first. This will allow you to get all the hard stuff out of the way so the rest will just seem like a breeze. Just be sure to not quit once the hard part is done because then you will procrastinate on when you will continue.

  Straighten Out Your Priorities
Procrastination is caused by a number of things, one of them being that people have the same will to succeed as they do to fail. If you were to have a greater will succeed, then you would eventually put an end to procrastinating. All procrastination does is put off what needs to be done to succeed, whether it is a project for work or just cleaning your basement.

  Don’t Think Of Your Task For More Than It Is
The longer you procrastinate, the harder your task is going to seem when you think about doing it. If you jump right into what needs to be done, it will be over before you know it.

  Get Motivation Help
Have somebody get on your case about whatever needs to be done. If you need to clean out the basement, have your significant other ask you daily when it going to be done. At work, have a co-worker hound you about getting task done.

  Have A Checklist
When you give yourself visual goals on paper, you are more likely to want to get them done. The more checks you see next to different tasks, the more motivated you will be to keep going and finish.
