Five Things About The New Coke Milk Product
Back in the 70’s we used to watch Laverne & Shirley on television. Laverne (played by Penny Marshall) used to mix Pepsi and milk together and drink it. As a kid, I always thought this was gross, but I had friends that gave it a try and actually liked the concoction. So, being the follower that I am, I tried it myself one day and it wasn’t half bad. It didn’t become a staple drink in my home, but it wasn’t as bad as it sounded.
Now, Coca-Cola has introduced a fizzy-milk product of its own. It’s called, Vio, and it is described as “sparkling milk beverage“. Currently, it is being test marketed in New York City, but may make its way to shelves across America in the next few months. Would you try this drink? Vio is created from sparkling water skim milk and natural cane sugar. It will be available in 8 ounce bottles selling for about $2.49 per bottle.
The new drink will be available in four different fruit flavors: Citrus Burst, Peach Mango, Very Berry, and Tropical Colada.
It is available in a very limited distribution right now to about 200 retailers and can only be found in the Big Apple. Yet another reason to visit New York!
Coke tried this same type of beverage revolution in Japan in the late 1990’s. That time, they called it, Qoo. No word on whether it was a hit or not.
While you might be set back by a drink that mixes milk with your fizz, it is actually fashioned after an old-time favorite people used to love way back in the day – it was called an “egg creme” and it was a huge hit in your grandparent’s day. Give it a try, you might find you like it!
