Five Steps to Playing Wii Fit if You Exceed The Weight Limit

wiifitOK, so the Wii Fit has a weight limit of 330 pounds in the United States.  For most people, this isn’t a problem.  For some, it is an issue.  If you fall into this category, you are not alone.  According to the CDC, 8.3 million Americans have a similar problem!  So what do you do about it?  If you went out and bought the Wii Fit, it is not doing you any good. You can’t get past the set up for the Wii Fit game if you exceed the weight limit.  Granted the Balance Board will hold up to 600 pounds but the program can’t register that high.  Below are five tips how to “trick’ the Wii into letting you play the game.

number1Plug the game in as you normally would and place the balance board on the floor.  If you have a thick shag carpet, make sure you do not add in the leg extenders that come with the game to level the board.

number2Get a comforter or thick blanket and fold it up so that it is a few layers thick.  Mattress foam (about an inch or so thick will also work).  The size of the blanket or foam needs to be bigger than the Wii Balance Board.

number3Place your blanket or mattress under the Wii Balance Board.  Make sure the surface is even so you don’t fall off or tumble.  It won’t help if you break an arm or wrist while you are trying to exercise.

number4Step on the Wii Balance Board and start the game.  When you get through the set up, the game should read that you are of less weight and should be able to play the game.  This method usually takes off between 15-25 pounds in the reading.  While it is not full proof, it should allow you to get through to enjoy the game and keep exercising.

number5If the above method does not work, try adding more blankets or a thicker foam pad.  Just don’t get the cushioned area too thick because you won’t be able to balance yourself.
