It is easy to get suckered in with those cool gadgets that we always see on television late at night or early Sunday morning, but do those new inventions actually work? You know they are trying to sell you with their repetition of the phone number and the “Wait! There’s more…” slogan. But should we take advantage of these products? Here are five “As Seen On TV” products either I have personally tried or have talked with people who purchased these products. Personally, I am addicted to these ads. I’ll admit it. These are five of the best that I’ve come across.
Magic Bullet Blender
The Magic Bullet is an entirely new concept in labor-saving devices. Unlike bulky blenders and unwieldy food processors that most of us only pull out of storage for specific recipes and special occasions, the Magic Bullet is so handy, so versatile and easy to use that you’ll put it to work EVERY single day (probably several times a day). Best of all, it saves you time because it does almost any job in the kitchen in 10 seconds or less!
Pros: Chops, mixes, purees, stirs, blends in seconds; easy to use, easy to clean; includes multiple attachments that can be used for small or large jobs.
Cons: The Price.
Cost: $99.99 Buy one, get one free.

Onion Slicer
Work smarter, not harder with Progressive International’s helpful onion chopper. Just slice an onion in two, set half on the stainless steel blade, then close the hinged plastic lid. Voila! Dice onions without all the mess, odor, or time-consuming cleanup. The reinforced storage container is clear so it’s easy to see how much you’ve chopped, and measurements up to two cups are printed on the sides. The compact tool stands on four round feet that keep it secure on the countertop or table. When the top is closed, the blade is protected and safely away from a busy chef’s hands. This chopper stores easily in a drawer and comes with a tool to clean the lid easily.
Cons: None
Doggy Steps
Does Your Pet Have Difficulty Climbing Up To His Favorite Spot? The solution is Doggy Steps. It’s just the right height to help smaller and older dogs step up to where they want to go – up to couches, beds and more! It’s also great for pets to step up into cars or trucks. It’s lightweight and portable so it goes anywhere–indoors and out! No more bending over to help your pet up… so there’s less stress on your back too!
Pros: Once your pet is trained it allows them freedom to climb anywhere you have these steps set up.
Cons: There is no major negative. You just need patience to train your pet to use these steps.
Cost: $19.95 for three sets.

FURminator
Love your pet but hate the messy shedding? Then you’ll love the FURminator deShedding tool. Used and recommended by professional groomers, the FURminator removes the loose, dead undercoat to reduce shedding up to 90% in long and short haired cats and dogs. The FURminator’s uniquely designed stainless steel edge gently grabs loose undercoat hair and harmlessly removes it without damaging the topcoat. You’ll agree it works better than any brush, comb or rake to reduce shedding.
Pros: Solidly constructed with a comfortable heavy-duty rubber grip, brushes out more hair, more easily than a standard pin or wire brush.
Cons: No different than a well-constructed “slicker” brush that dog groomers use, and which may be found more cheaply
Cost: $34.95

My Snoring Solution
Snoring research has shown that a jaw supporter, keeping the lower jaw in an upward position increases the three dimensional space in the airway, reduces air velocity and soft tissue vibration. This action can eliminate or substantially reduce snoring. Jaw supporters keep your airway open while you sleep by lifting your lower jaw upward and forward and holding it in that proper position. When your airways are kept open then the vibrations that cause snoring are prevented from happening or at least greatly reduced. The benefit to you and your loved ones are quieter nights and better quality sleep.
Pros: Chin straps are nothing new, but My Snoring Solution seems to have paid consideration to comfort in the design.
Cons: Seems a bit pricey for cloth and Velcro.
Cost: $69.97

I haven’t tried any of those products specifically, but I have tried the PedEgg and bought the Ab Trainer. I am extremely satisfied with both!

I can’t agree more with the Furminator review. We have been using their products in our self service dog wash and grooming shop in salt lake city for years, and Furminator outperforms any other de-shedding brush on the market!
