Five Reasons The Dallas Cowboys Will Make The Playoffs
The Dallas Cowboys are sitting at 3-3 on the year and have been inconsistent so far this year, to say the least. Until their blowout of the St. Louis Rams last Sunday, the Cowboys played in 5 games decided by 4 points or less. Honestly, take away a few plays and the Cowboys could be 6-0 or 1-5 .... The games have literally been that close. As Founder and Editor of DallasProSportSpot.com, I feel like I have the "expertise" to tell you why the Dallas Cowboys will make the playoffs this year!
ROB RYAN'S DEFENSE
The Cowboys have the #1 ranked run defense in the league and have gone up against teams with strong running games. Players like Stephen Jackson, Frank Gore, Tim Hightower, Shonn Green, and Ladanian Tomlinson have had little to no success against the Boys' stout run D. The Cowboys brought on defensive Rob Ryan during the offseason to turn around a poor defense from a year ago and he has done his job. His blitz packages are so deceiving that even Tom Brady struggled against the Cowboys defense (although he did torch us on the game winning drive!)
SCHEDULE
The Cowboys got the toughest part of their schedule out of the way during the first 5 games of the year. They went 2-3 with losses to the Jets, Lions, and Patriots while they won against the 49ers and Redskins. The win against the winless Rams put the Cowboys at 3-3. Through the Cowboys next 6 games, the should be the "bonafide" favorite in at least 5 with the only toss up being the Buffalo Bills. Their next 6 are as follows: Philadelphia, Seattle, Buffalo, Washington, Miami, and Arizona. It is a very good possibility that the Cowboys are sitting at 9-3 by the time they face the New York Giants on December 11th. I think it will only take 10 or 11 games to win the NFC East, which brings me to my next point...
THE NFC EAST IS NOT IT'S USUAL STRONG SELF
So far, the New York Giants have looked like the strongest team in the division and they lost to the Seattle Seahawks. The Redskins started off the season strong at 3-1 but have lost two straight and are sitting at 3-3 with the Cowboys, with their last loss coming via an embarrassment by the Carolina Panthers. The "Dream Team" Philadelphia Eagles started with blow out win against the St. Louis Rams but then lost 4 straight. They beat the Redskins before their bye week and are slated for a big match-up this week against the Cowboys. Should be fun.
HEALTH ISSUES ARE GETTING BETTER
The Cowboys have only seen 3 games that Featured Dez Bryant and Miles Austin on the field together. Tony Romo's broken rib is getting better. Orlando Scandrick, a very underrated cornerback, is finally healthy as is Terrence Newman. Rookie LG Bill Nagy broke his ankle two weeks ago but the Cowboys re-signed Montrae Holland who filled in nicely. The only important injury the Cowboys have now is Felix Jones but his injury led to my number 5 reason the Cowboys will make the playoffs ...
DEMARCO MURRAY
How can you not get excited when watching this kid! He did EVERYTHING on the field for Oklahoma in college and he is showing flashes of that brilliance in the NFL. Last week Murray's franchise record setting 253 yards on the ground took the Cowboys from one of the worst rushing teams in the NFL, to the 15th rank rushing team and it will only go up from there. When Felix Jones comes back from injury the Cowboys will have a two headed monster that will take pressure off of Romo and the passing game and lead the Cowboys to the playoffs.
