Five FAQs About Burtons Alice in Wonderland

When Lewis Carroll wrote “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” I don’t think he thought a person like Tim Burton could exist outside of his nightmares.  Burton is the person in charge of the new Disney film, “Alice in Wonderland” due for release next year.  While there is a lot of speculation on the film, here are five things you may have missed when the story is mixed up with the mind of Tim Burton.

number1Alice in Wonderland, 2010,was filmed in Cornwall, England and is currently in post-production. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter, Australian actress Mia Wasikowska stars as Alice, Tim Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter (as a nightmarish red queen of hearts) and their baby daughter (whose name still remains anonymous) will be in the film as well.

number2The movie isn’t exactly like the books that Lewis Carrol wrote.  The characters are all there, but Alice is now 17 and it’s been ten years since she’s been to Wonderland.  She doesn’t remember a thing about it.  That’s probably a good thing, because Wonderland is a dark place filled with strange characters.

number3Alice in Wonderland’s screenplay is written by Linda Woolverton.  She’s also the writer responsible for such classic 80’s cartoons like Duck Tales, The Real Ghostbusters, and Ewoks.  She’s worked with Disney before, too.  You may know her work as the writer of  Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.

number4The movie is jam packed with stars.  Besides the ones listed above,  you’ll see Crispin Glover (Knave of Hearts), Alan Rickman (The Caterpillar),  Christopher Lee  (The Jabberwock), and Anne Hathaway (The White Queen).

number5A scandal occurred when YouTube released the trailer early.  Tim Burton is scheduled to appear at this year’s San Diego Comic Con to release the trailer for Alice in Wonderland, but eager fans broke the trailer beforehand.  Click here to see the trailer.
