Five Careers You Can Do Without Any Experience

No Experience NecessaryStatistically, it is estimated that only one out of every four college graduates will get a job in their career.  Unemployment is at an all-time high and the state of the Union is pretty dismal.  Not the cheeriest of opening lines for myFiveBest.  If you are out of a job and have been unable to find one - or you just want to work for yourself, what can you do?  This is especially hard if you do not have any discernible skills beyond playing Farkle on Facebook or beating up bad guys in World of Warcraft.  Luckily, there are some promising job opportunities for people who have no skills.  It works for those of you who do have some opportunities, as well.  These jobs include a lot of hard work and your chance of success is determined upon how much energy you devote to the job.  If you are working from home or always wanted to start your own business, this might be the article for you! Take a look at them and see if these career choices match your abilities.

Personal Shopper

myfivebest -1Shopping Expert
The shopping expert is a person who likes to collect coupons and shop.  What you would do is go grocery shopping for other people.  No experience necessary, but ideal candidates for this sort of work would have to enjoy the bustle and turmoil of the grocery store.  Your clientele would be primarily upper middle class residents with two incomes.  You can set a base charge for this service or you can use a percentage of the order.  Any coupons you have should be a bonus for you and not included within the cost for the service.  Start up cost for this business would probably be business cards, flyers, and a web site.  No experience necessary, but it helps if you live to upper scale areas. Putting the groceries away after you buy them is extra tip money!

myfivebest - 2Dog Waste Disposal Cleanup
Not the most glamorous of jobs, but a necessary one.  Your job would be to pick up dog waste out of people's yards.  There are thousands of dog owners and many of them have an area in their yards that the dogs run around in and do what comes naturally.  This is not good for a yard and needs to be cleaned up every now and then (hopefully not just once a year!).  The person who takes on this job would target homeowners who have a dog.  Every month or so, you would be responsible for getting your dog waste gear on and pick up the droppings!  It sounds gross, but by passing out some flyers and cards and getting in tight with your local pet stores, you could make a rather lucrative business disposing of dog waste.  While the remnants cannot be turned into manure without a special composter (they cost about $400), you can still do your part by keeping America clean and cleaning up people's yards.

Courier

myfivebest - 3Courier
If you live around large businesses, you might find that they need to get items from one place to another within your hometown.  These could be anything from having papers signed and delivered to making sure that orders get delivered to the post office.  While a large company may be beyond your ability to handle packages or pallets, what about smaller items that need delivered to the post office or Fed Ex?  Your potential client could be a small business or even a person who sells on eBay and cannot get out of the house to deliver their packages.  You'd have to set your prices low enough to compete with delivery companies that do small pickups.  This business could probably get off and running with some business cards, flyers, and forms to get the products delivered.  Personal service is the key here because what you are offering is same-day, in-town delivery.

myfivebest - 4Car Detailer
This is a job for the person who really loves cars and takes great pride in making them look the best they can.  The job does take some special tools and attention to detail (thus, the name).  A good car detailer can expect to bring in between $50-$100 or more for their work.  This includes interior and exterior parts of the car and may require some mechanical knowledge.  This does not mean that you have to have tons of expertise doing this job.  You just need to have the tools (i.e. wax, soap, water, and a good shop vacuum) and the ambition to go out and get people interested in having you detail their cars.  Take pictures of your work, offer discounts to people who come back or recommend you to others, and get the word out that you are doing this kind of work.  For a dedicated person, this can be a very lucrative career.

that guy

myfivebest - 5"That Guy"
I have a friend who does this job and is very successful at it.  "That Guy" is a person with a lot of different contacts.  It comes from the old saying "I know a guy who can...[fill in the blanks]."  The person they know is "That Guy".  A person who takes on this job gathers business cards from others.  They make friends with people who own small businesses.  They are also pretty social and meet with a lot of people during the day.  In the corporate world, they may be a salesperson, but they work for themselves.  The premise is the same as a one person networking group.  You work out a deal with small businesses.  They give you some sort of kickback from each job you get them.  You would have to negotiate your price ahead of time.  While you are out at lunch or meeting with people at the gym, you start talking about a Car Detailer, a Courier Service, a person who does Dog Waste Removal, or is a Shopping Expert.  When the person is interested, you say, "I know a guy..." and give them a card or flyer that you just happen to have on you.  A simple follow up and you are on your way to very good commissions.
