Dog lovers who live in apartments deserve to have their pets just like everyone else. However, finding the right breed of dog to live with you within the cramped quarters of your dwelling might be difficult. We based this list on the needs of the dog, the space available and the need for respect to your neighbors that may only live a paper-thin wall away. Here are five dogs that just might fit the bill for your apartment living.
Yorkshire Terrier
These dogs are small, lovable creatures that have a beautiful coat that many consider to be hypoallergenic, making them ideal for the group dwelling. The dog breed, also known as a Yorkie, is considered bold and active and not very good around children. They grow to less than ten pounds and find lying around on your furniture to be a wonderful pastime.
Schnauzer
The schnauzer makes an excellent apartment pet because they are happy with human companionship and are also considered a hypoallergenic breed. They grow to be about one to two feet in height, depending on breed, and are extremely intelligent. The schnauzer works well in apartments because they are not aggressive with strangers, yet work well as a guard dog to sound an alarm.
Italian Greyhound
Greyhounds are typically known for their speed and need to run. However, this miniature version of the running dog loves to lay around. While this does not mean that it will not run fast when given the chance, you will fall in love with this breed when it is laying its head in your lap. Italian Greyhounds grow up to be around 10 pounds and have very little fur for shedding.
Poodle
The toy and miniature versions of this dog make loyal apartment pets. They are small, one of the most intelligent breeds of dog, and have a dense, low-shedding coat. Poodles are a favorite breed found in literature and as the pet of famous celebrities who often cut their coats to make a fashion statement.
Boxer
This breed of dog is known for its short, stocky build, close cropped hair and its sagging jowls. The boxer is a medium sized dog, but its knack for laziness make it ideal for apartment living. The dog is one of the laziest breeds in existence, while combined with its gregarious nature, makes it ideal for any apartment.

My female white boxer makes me doubt your claim that these are lazy dogs!! She grew up with my two male great danes. They keep each other young!
