Five Best Superpowers To Have

Best Super Powers To HaveWho wouldn't want to be a superhero?  But if you could only choose one superpower to have, what would it be?  Do you think that everything would be all rosy if you had these powers?  There aren't any super villains to worry about (at least not yet), so you should be pretty lucky that no one would try and beat you down.  But who knows?  If you could have super powers, others could, too.  Here are five of the best powers that a person could have!

myfivebest -1Flight
Who didn't grow up wishing they could fly?  Flight is possibly one of the most wished for powers of them all.  Man has always wanted to fly like the birds.  In ancient Greece, we get the story of Daedelus and Icarus who built wings made of feathers and wax. Unfortunately for Icarus, he flew too high and plummeted into the sea.  Leonardo da Vinci worked on flying machines to lift man to the skies and one of the greatest feats of the 20th century was the invention of the airplane.

Who Has Flight? Superman, Storm (from the X-Men), Iron Man, Wonder Woman, the Mighty Thor, Green Lantern, Dr. Strange, and Archangel.

Benefits of Flight: You can do your part to save on gasoline, without those pesky roads you can get places faster, save money on shoes since you won't need them as much, you never have to worry about being killed in an elevator crash.

Drawbacks of Flight: Pigeons, low flying airplanes, you'd have to be registered with the FAA, annoying kids wanting to "hitch a ride", and constant jet lag.

myfivebest - 2Invisibility
Oh, the ability to go invisible...There are so many times I'd love to be a fly on the wall when people are talking.  With invisibility, that would be easy to do!  It's almost a given power for any person that wants to do illegal things, too, but I would use it for good.  There are plans in the works right now in actual science to make invisibility an actual ability.  We have already created it for planes (sort of) so that they are invisible to radar.  Hopefully, it will work for normal sight, too!

Who Has Invisibility? The Vision, Invisible Woman, Invisible Kid, Martian Manhunter, and H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man.

Benefits of Invisibility: You never have to wear clothes unless want to, free movies and concerts, you DON'T look fat in anything and I am not mentioning the locker rooms, but I know you all are thinking it...

Drawbacks of Invisibility: Everyone cuts in front of you when you are in line, it's hard to sleep when your eyelids can't keep out light, web cams are just a waste of money for you, and people act like you aren't even there!

myfivebest - 3Super Speed
This would be an awesome power to have.  Maybe not as cool as flight when it comes to getting where you need to go, but you'd get there a whole lot faster.  All through history it has been obvious to have the need to get from point A to point B faster.  Man has used horses, trains, planes, and automobiles to transport himself.  What would be great is if we could do it ourselves, without the help of animals or machines.  To date, man tops out at about 25mph, racehorses go about 50mph, and the cheetah - the world's fastest animal - can run at 70mph!  I want to go faster!

Who Has Super Speed? The Flash, Superman, Silver Surfer, Quicksilver, and Johnny Quick.

Benefits of Super Speed: You'll never be late for anything, when you say you'll be there in a minute - you are being serious, running on water, there's plenty of time think while you're waiting for the second hand to change...

Drawbacks of Super Speed: Everyone. talks. so. damn. slow..., nothing can hold your interest, and you are ALWAYS bored waiting for anything to happen.

myfivebest - 4Telepathy
Ahhh...the ability to read minds and project your thoughts to others.  You'd have the ability to know what people were thinking and could send them messages without opening your mouth.  The term was coined in 1882 by the classical scholar Fredric W. H. Myers, a founder of the Society for Psychical Research, specifically to replace the earlier expression thought-transference.  This is one power that some think people could actually possess.

Who Has Telepathy? Professor X, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Martian Manhunter, Sookie Stackhouse, Aquaman (with marine life), and Psylocke.

Benefits of Telepathy: Never fail a test because everyone is thinking of the answers, always know what fork in the road to take, stop being tricked by people, never lose at poker, and REALLY let people have a piece of your mind!

Drawbacks of Telepathy: Surprise parties always SUCK, experience rejection before it happens, you really DO know when people think you look fat in that outfit, and you know exactly why that employer didn't hire you.

myfivebest - 5Super Strength
Just about every superhero has super strength to take on the bad guys.  Building your body to the point where you can lift almost anything would be a great ability to have.  In the real world, there really have been some super strongmen, but the most any "normal" person has lifted (that has been verified) is 6,270 pounds, which was back lifted by Paul Anderson in 1957.  That's a lot of weight - even for a superhero!

Who Has Super Strength? Superman, Spider-man, The Thing, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Silver Surfer, Lobo, Superboy, Wonder Woman, Beast, Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Colossus, Namor, and Spawn.  All right, a shorter list would be who doesn't have super strength?  (Answer: Batman)

Benefits of Super Strength: No need for mechanical means to jack your car up, you don't need to eat your Wheaties, it's pretty clear that you aren't going to get sand kicked in your face at the beach.

Drawbacks of Super Strength: Every time one of your friends decides to move they call you to help, no one ever believes you can be "the sensitive type", serious lack of arm wrestling opponents, and people are always asking you to open a stuck jar!
