Presidential Marathon Runners

marathon runnersThere’s been a lot of news recently on the exaggeration stated by Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan about his speedy marathon accomplishments. While Ryan has run a marathon – and I give credit to anyone who can complete one of these races – he felt the need to state to radio host, Hugh Hewitt that he ran the Grandma’s Marathon in two hours and fifty minutes. For those of you who have never run a marathon (myself, included); that’s fast. In reality, it is also a lie. Ryan actually ran the marathon in just over four hours (4:01:25). I’m not sure why he needed to embellish his running time because it is still an extraordinary feat. Not many candidates can say they have done the same. In fact, I could only find the following five people…

2012 NFL Mock Draft

NFL Mock DraftYa, I know it’s pointless to put one of these things out prior to Free Agency, but it’s just so damn fun. I will of course release at post free agency draft as well and I’m sure it won’t look anything like this one. Basically what I’m trying to say is that reading this mock draft is pretty much a waste of your time. Since you have read this much, go ahead and check out my thoughts and predictions. Read more…

Sports Movies That Launched Acting Careers

[ReviewAZON name=”sports” id=”53″ display=”inlinepost” asin=”0879103310″ trackingid=”mywebsource1-20″ country=”us” width=”200px” float=”left” imagetop=”10px”]I’ve always been a fan of sports films. The sport movie has been the launching point for several big name stars over the years. You may not always recognize these pop icons because of the bit parts that they portrayed, because, after all, it IS before they were stars.

This list includes Academy Award nominees, producers, writers, models, and directors.  Who would have thought they would have started in cheesy sports movies?

Five Greatest College Football Coaches. Ever.

[ReviewAZON name=”jopa” id=”49″ display=”inlinepost” asin=”1600786154″ trackingid=”mywebsource1-20″ country=”us” width=”200px” float=”left” imagetop=”10px”]With the passing of Joe Paterno from Penn State this Sunday, college has lost another of its greatest football coaches.  Joe Paterno will go down in history as being one of the ten best coaches of all time.  His 406-136-3 record (74%) over a 46 year career at Penn State holds the record for the most victories by an NCAA Division coach. ” JoePa”, as he was nicknamed, led five undefeated teams to championships in his career and was one of only three coaches to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.  He will be sorely missed.  While Joe Paterno was certainly a great coach, who were the five Greatest College Football Coaches of all time? This list is merely an opinion and not based on just statistics, but here’s who I would consider “the best”. Who would you add? Am I full of it? I’d love to hear your opinion. Read more…
