While Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick recently bought a home in Los Angeles, the couple prefer to keep their main place of residence in New York City. The purchase of the home sparked some speculation that the press-shy couple was moving to the West after years of resisting, but it’s now generally believed that since the house only has two bedrooms it was purchased to give the couple and their children a place to stay while they are in town for work.

Having collaborated on music with his brother, Michael, since they were children, the duo decided to officially create an alternative country/rock band in 1995. The brothers have released a total of six albums since 1997, many of which received positive reviews from music critics. The duo has had their music featured in a number of television show such as Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and The Kennedys as well as on the soundtrack for the film The Woodsman.

Despite being initially offended by the game “6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon” he has grown to find the game fun and a compliment of his range of roles. He decided to parlay the game’s popularity in pop culture into an opportunity to help a good cause when he launched the charitable social networking site SixDegrees.org in 2007. The website plays on the idea that everyone in the world in connected in some way and it allows its users to become introduced to charitable organizations that the people they are connected to are involved with.

In 2008 Kevin, along with his wife Kyra, appeared in the will.i.am music video for the song “It’s a New Day”. The song was a single produced by will.i.am for the compilation album Change is Now: Renewing America’s Promise which was created to celebrate the election of President Barack Obama in 2008. The music video featured many of the celebrities that were vocal supporters of Obama including Kerry Washington, Olivia Wilde, Fergie, Quincy Jones, Jesse Jackson, and Kanye West.

…In the movie, JFK, that is.  Kevin has said in the past that the period between Footloose and JFK was the worst period of his career. After a string of critical and box office failures, Kevin accepted the role of Willie O’Keefe for the controversial 1991 film by Oliver Stone. Despite the fact that his small role only took four days to film, his career completely changed after the film was released. Studios and casting directors began to view him in a much different light than they had before and he was offered more and more dramatic roles in the years following JFK’s release, giving his career a sorely needed second wind.
